Dyson introduces its thinnest and lightest cordless vacuum, PencilVac

Dyson has unveiled PencilVac, its thinnest and lightest cordless vacuum cleaner to date. Featuring a body diameter of just 38 mm and weighing 1.8 kg, the new model brings a fresh approach to everyday cleaning through newly developed cleaning head, motor and dust separation technologies.

New cleaning head designed to collect long hair without tangling

PencilVac is equipped with the new Fluffycones cleaning head, which consists of four conical structures arranged across two brush bars. Rotating in opposite directions, these brushes are designed to collect long hair and pet fur while preventing them from wrapping around the brush bars, directing debris straight into the bin. The ability to clean efficiently both forwards and backwards improves usability in tight spaces and around corners.

Dual green laser illumination at the front and rear of the cleaning head reveals fine dust on hard floors that may otherwise be difficult to see. The conical elements extend towards the edges, allowing more effective cleaning along walls and into corners.

New Hyperdymium motor and ultra-slim design

Dyson PencilVac is powered by the brand’s smallest and fastest vacuum motor to date, the 28 mm Hyperdymium 140k motor. Capable of reaching speeds of up to 140,000 rpm, the motor delivers 55 AW of suction power despite its compact size. According to Dyson, the motor offers a higher power density than previous generations.

The ultra-slim design allows PencilVac to lie completely flat on the floor and reach under low furniture. The vacuum can tilt down to a height of just 95 mm, making it easier to clean beneath sofas, beds and cabinets.

Advanced dust separation and compression system

PencilVac features a new two-stage linear dust separation system designed to capture 99.99 percent of particles as small as 0.3 microns. This system helps prevent filter clogging and maintains consistent suction performance.

An air-powered dust compression mechanism compacts debris inside the bin, reducing the frequency of emptying. The injector-style hygienic bin emptying system enables contact-free disposal in a single motion.

Connected features for enhanced usability

PencilVac is Dyson’s first cordless vacuum to offer Bluetooth connectivity. Through the MyDyson app, users can access battery information, monitor remaining run time and receive real-time filter maintenance alerts. The app also provides step-by-step guidance on vacuum care to help maintain optimal performance over time.

An integrated LCD screen displays the selected power mode and remaining run time during use. The removable battery delivers up to 60 minutes of continuous cleaning, while a magnetic charging dock and integrated tool storage add everyday convenience.

Engineering focus at the core

Dyson founder James Dyson notes that the goal behind PencilVac was to significantly reduce size and weight while maintaining high performance. Dyson Chief Technology Officer John Churchill adds that the new motor, cleaning head and separation system represent some of the company’s most advanced engineering developments to date.

With its compact form factor and newly developed technologies, Dyson PencilVac is positioned for users seeking efficient, space-conscious cleaning solutions across a wide range of living environments.
