Zero Density introduces EVO Engine Hardware series

Zero Density has announced the EVO Engine Hardware series, a hardware platform developed specifically for real-time graphics production. Designed for game engine-based rendering and compositing, the EVO series targets high-demand production environments such as green screen, AR/XR and video wall applications, with a focus on continuous 24/7 operation.

A hardware concept tailored for real-time production

Unlike conventional servers, workstations or gaming PCs, the EVO series is built around a single purpose: real-time graphics rendering using game engines. Zero Density defines this approach as “engine hardware,” positioning it as a distinct category that combines the performance characteristics of gaming systems with the reliability and endurance required for broadcast-grade operations.

Optimized for Reality 5 platform

EVO Engine Hardware is designed from the ground up to support Zero Density’s real-time graphics platform, Reality 5. From custom controller PCBs and power cabling to cooling architecture, each component is reviewed and, where necessary, redesigned to meet the demands of real-time rendering workflows.

Supporting ray tracing and global illumination

The series is engineered to handle real-time ray-traced rendering and global illumination technologies available in Unreal Engine 5, including Lumen. According to Zero Density, the hardware platform enables the creation of hyper-realistic virtual environments while maintaining real-time performance at high visual quality.

Four core performance pillars

Performance in the EVO series is driven by four key elements: GPU, CPU, power delivery and thermal management. The company states that the balanced integration of these components allows the full potential of the Reality 5 platform to be utilized in demanding production scenarios.

High-power GPU configurations

Each EVO generation is equipped with high-end Nvidia GPUs. The current lineup includes the RTX 6000 Pro Blackwell Workstation Edition, RTX 5090 and RTX 4090, depending on the model. To support GPUs with power consumption reaching up to 600 watts, Zero Density has developed custom power delivery solutions, including dedicated cables and PCBs.

Game-optimized CPU selection

On the CPU side, the EVO series relies on game-optimized processors with high single-threaded performance. EVO III models use the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, while EVO II models are powered by the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D. These processors are selected to deliver strong Unreal Engine 5 game-thread performance while reducing thermal and electrical load.

Air-cooled thermal design

Instead of liquid cooling, EVO Engine Hardware uses an air-cooled thermal management system designed for reliability and low maintenance. Internal airflow, cable layout and fan behavior are controlled via a custom microcontroller, enabling proactive cooling and helping prevent thermal throttling and frame drops during long production sessions.

Rugged chassis and redundant power

The systems are housed in reinforced, rack-mountable 4U chassis designed for transportation between studios or use in OB trucks. All EVO models feature hot-swappable redundant power supplies, supporting operational continuity in broadcast environments.

Quality control and traceability

Each unit undergoes a final quality control process, including continuous full CPU and GPU load testing for a minimum of eight hours. Systems that pass testing are shipped with a unique serial number and QR code, allowing customers to access warranty status and manufacturing details.

Three model options

The EVO Engine Hardware lineup consists of EVO III Pro, EVO III and EVO II models. These variants are differentiated by GPU capability, recommended output resolution and video I/O capacity, addressing a range of real-time production requirements.

With the EVO Engine Hardware series, Zero Density aims to provide a purpose-built, high-performance hardware solution for virtual studios, AR/XR productions and large-scale real-time graphics workflows.
