HONOR Magic9 Pro Max makes its debut at the Venice Film Festival

Chinese technology company HONOR attended the 83rd Venice International Film Festival as the Official Imaging Strategic Partner of the International Promotion Program for Chinese Language Films. The company introduced its portable cinematic devices as part of the event. Developed in collaboration with German camera and lighting systems manufacturer ARRI, the new flagship HONOR Magic9 Pro Max was presented to the public for the first time at the festival. Featuring a moss-green design and a camera module carrying the ARRI logo, the model stands out with its lens layout inspired by the brand’s iconic cinema cameras.

Bringing professional production workflows to mobile devices

As part of the collaboration, specific elements of ARRI’s Image Science and professional cinema workflows have been adapted for smartphones. This integration offers content creators flexibility during shooting while ensuring creative control is maintained throughout the post-production process.

David Bermbach, Product Director at ARRI, stated that the future is not merely about higher pixel counts, but about control and capturing quality imagery. Bermbach noted that the partnership combines HONOR’s expertise in mobile imaging, processing power, and robotics with ARRI’s century-long legacy in image science, aiming to expand what content creators can achieve.

In recognition of its contributions to the motion picture industry, ARRI has received 20 Scientific and Technical Awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. HONOR and ARRI will continue to refine integrated imaging technologies and workflows based on technical validations and real-world filmmaking applications.

New models to launch at the end of September

HONOR plans to bring its cinematic imaging capabilities to a broader range of consumer devices. The upcoming HONOR Magic9 Series, scheduled to launch in China at the end of September, will further demonstrate ARRI imaging capabilities to users.

HONOR previously showcased its Robot Phone at major cinema events globally, including the 79th Cannes Film Festival, the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival, and the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.
