Apple HomePod mini 2 Unveiled: Features and Price

Apple has introduced the HomePod mini 2, its next-generation smart speaker, featuring the S10 chip, music-synchronized lighting effects and planned support for Siri AI. The new model is designed to enhance music playback, smart home control and audio experiences across Apple’s ecosystem.

The HomePod mini 2 builds on Apple’s compact smart speaker concept with updated hardware and new features. Available in five colors, the device can operate independently, work as part of a stereo pair or integrate into a multi-speaker home audio setup.

Apple HomePod mini 2 Features

The Apple HomePod mini 2 is powered by the S10 chip, which supports computational audio processing. The technology analyzes music in real time to optimize sound output, helping deliver a more balanced listening experience.

The speaker can be used individually or paired with another compatible HomePod mini 2 to create a stereo setup. It can also be integrated into a multi-room audio system, allowing users to play music across different rooms.

When paired with the new Apple TV 4K, four HomePod mini 2 speakers can be configured to create a surround sound experience. The system adjusts audio timing and levels according to the speakers’ positions in the room.

Sound Glow Adds Music-Synchronized Lighting

One of the new speaker’s key features is Sound Glow, a lighting effect that synchronizes the HomePod mini 2’s illuminated top surface with the music being played.

The lighting responds to audio in real time, creating visual effects that follow the rhythm and dynamics of a track. The system can also draw on colors associated with album artwork to create a visual experience that complements the music.

Users can select ambient animations to accompany sounds such as rain, offering a more relaxing atmosphere at home.

HomePod mini 2 Can Be Used as a Mac Speaker

Apple has designed the HomePod mini 2 to work with Mac computers as a default speaker. This allows users to enjoy audio from movies, games, music and FaceTime calls through the smart speaker.

The device also integrates with Apple’s smart home ecosystem. Users can control compatible accessories through voice commands, including turning off lights, adjusting thermostats, closing blinds and locking supported doors.

Integration with Apple Home allows the speaker to serve as part of a connected home environment, bringing audio playback and smart home control together in a compact device.

Siri AI Support Planned for a Software Update

The HomePod mini 2 is designed to support Siri AI, Apple’s next-generation voice assistant. Planned capabilities include more personalized responses, improved understanding of personal context and enhanced assistance with music discovery.

However, the new Siri AI features will not be available when the speaker first goes on sale. Apple plans to introduce the functionality through a free software update at a later date.

Access to these features will also require a compatible iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence and runs the appropriate software version.

Siri AI is initially planned to support English in the United States, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

Apple HomePod mini 2 Price and Release Date

Apple has set the US price of the HomePod mini 2 at $149. Pre-orders opened on October 13, 2026, with retail availability scheduled to begin on October 30.

The new smart speaker will be available in five colors: pink, green, blue, white and midnight. Apple plans to make the device available in more than 23 additional countries and regions.

Apple has not yet announced the HomePod mini 2’s release date or pricing for Turkey.
